A Companion and More

We tailor our services to suit each and every one of our clients needs. Read Della’s story below to see what her experience has been like with Shepherd’s Care at Home.

My Mom has had dementia for several years and just over a year ago she moved from her house into an independent apartment at Shepherd’s Care Foundation. A month after she moved in, she started to wander out and wanted to go home – it became very scary and a huge concern for staff and family. I was looking for companionship for Mom and with the assistance from the management at Shepherd’s Care I was encouraged to contact Karen at Shepherd’s Care at Home. Karen met with Mom and I, and very soon Mom found her companion, Nazreen. Mom loves Nazreen as if she truly is one of our family. They have been together for ten months. Nazreen is a loyal, trusting companion, with a great sense of humor and likes to laugh, which is exactly what Mom likes to do. They sit and talk, go for walks, do jigsaw puzzles, color, and attend concerts at Shepherd’s Care. Nazreen has been instrumental in helping Mom transition into her new place. As Mom’s dementia progressed Nazreen has been there five nights a week, not only as a companion but also to help Mom with personal care and safely tuck her in bed before she left, as well as do light housekeeping. Mom recently moved to a dementia-care home and Nazreen continues to visit four days a week. Staff and other residents in each care home have commented on how wonderfully Nazreen cares for Mom. She continues to show compassion and is a great friend. I am so very thankful for Shepherd’s Care at Home and the tremendous support they provide.
